Torture in C# Minor Augmented Seventh

As a follow-up to yesterday’s post (Torture in C# Minor), here’s s a story from today’s NY Times opinion page written by two military interrogators denouncing the practice on both moral and practical grounds.   The contrasting views presented in the comments section (from Sharpo Marx and Beardlsey, inter alia) are indirectly addressed.   Obviously the NY Times follows these exchanges closely.  Yup.

  1. NY Times says:

    No we don’t.

  2. Sharpo Marx says:

ah the N.Y. Times waht a wonderful source for news. From the wonderful articles by Walter Duranty during the 1930′ sextollig the marvelous and wonderful world of Stalin in the forme USSr and how we was an admirable ruler who was loved and respected by his people for which he won a Pulitzer Prize, to the reports and the strong defense of Fidel Castro as a democratic leader who was not a communist and who was imbued with democratic principles, the N.Y. Times has been on the forefront of those who are alwasys apologizing and making excuses for tyrants and all America’s enemies all over the world. I would not even use the N.Y. Times to line the bottom of my parrakeet’s cage. In fact when I did, he refused and demanded i swicth to the Daily News or the N.Y. Post. Is no wonder they are going broke and are losing readers galore. All I can say is: it could not happen to a nicer bunch of rectal orifices.

Sharpie: You probably don’t see how silly this line of reasoning is, and I am certain you don’t realize how many news sources in the world rely on the reporting the New York Times is responsible for for over a century of journalism. But at least see the argument from the perspective of what was presented. These were not NY Times reporters and editors expressing opinions. They are actual professional interrogation experts employed by the US military, one the author of a book on the subject.

Would you afford them more credibility if their article appeared elsewhere?

  4. Living Will says:

I agree with Sharpo’s parakeet. I’d much rather poop on the New York Post. Rupert Mudoch is a much better American.

  5. Red White & Blue says:

    Why do you hate America?

  6. Barbara Ganousch says:

It must be my sheltered life but I can’t imagine that anybody in their right mind thinks torture is a good idea. If you do, get help. And stay away from me.
