Operation Desert Sands

Well, the irony starts with the name: “Desert Sands Unified District.”  Then it all fizzles……

Seven seniors at a Southern California high school were facing disciplinary action for participating in a game called “Beat the Jew” in which losers were subjected to “incineration” or “enslavement,” a school administrator said Friday. The game involved some students playing Nazis, who blindfolded and dropped off other students playing Jews, who were to find their way back to the campus, said Sherry Johnstone, assistant superintendent of personnel for Desert Sands Unified School District. The game was promoted online, attracting about 40 students. Seven showed up in the campus parking lot one evening to play, Ms. Johnstone said. – NYTimes

Okay.  Let’s ask the obvious: what’s this have to do with Jews and Nazis?  Something distantly related to that nasty old song,

“This land is my land, it isn’t your land

If you don’t get off, I’ll blow your head off”?

Nah.  That’s a stretch.  This is pure, undiluted ignorance.

What the hell are these kids studying in school that they could screw this one up so wretchedly?  This isn’t Jews and Nazis, it’s Cops and Gangstas.   In cities like Detroit and Newark (NJ) , the cops pick up suspected gang members, keep them for a few hours, then drop them off on a rival gang’s turf, figuring they’ll either be killed or beat bloody if spotted; terrified if not.  Win-win.  Another victory for law enforcement, public safety, and the quality of life.

Clearly this indicates yet another failure on the part of public schools, this time in California where god knows there are enough gang members, Jews, and Nazis that this sort of cultural error is inexcusable.   And it will only get worse, when frantic parents, invertebrate administrators, and hairy politically correct Birkenstockians descend upon the hapless LA Board of Education to demand mandatory expensive sensitivity training for students, parents, and teachers alike.

I hope I’m all wrong about this, but I fear the worst.    California is a bellwether state, anticipating trends and cultural movements.  That suggests that as a society, we have finally arrived at a point where we can’t even get our basic hatreds and prejudices straight.   Forget the dumb Polock, cheap Jew, and drunken Irishman.  Now it’s the lazy Swiss, faggot Mexican, and slanty-eyed Finn.  All bets are off.  Fukuyama is wrong: History isn’t ended, it’s just forgotten.  This will ruin an entire century of stereotype jokes.

A damnable legacy indeed.
