The news that sticks in my craw today is that while rallies are convened from Sanford and Liberty City in Florida to downtown Manhattan’s “Million Hoodie March” protesting the shooting of teenager Trayvon Martin, what inspired several dozen south Floridians to take to the streets of Davie was the Miami Dolphins’ failure to sign Peyton Manning.
This reminds me of dismayed Penn State students marching to support Coach Joe Paterno following revelations of his Assistant Coach Jerry Sandusky enjoying “horseplay” in the shower with a naked 10 year old boy. The outcome of the weekend’s game in Oklahoma was far more meaningful to these college children than the role of their beloved coach w/r/t the fate of and injustice inflicted on child rape victims.
People people people. Where are your values? Have you no shame, no decency? No fucking sense?
That was a rhetorical question. I know the answer.
On the other extreme, would it surprise anybody if Al Sharpton and Skittles launched a marketing initiative?
It’s also amusing, in a bitter, cynical mode, to watch the sponsors of Florida’s idiotic “Stand Your Ground” law backing away at warp speed from the fatal implications of their own initiative. Florida legislators continue to lead the nation in “Duh” moments, although they’re getting competition from Texas, Virginia, and other states falling over one another to pass state rape abortion bills.
This will all vanish from the news next week as the Supreme Court takes its first steps toward overturning Obamacare.
So as America pedals backwards to the Middle Ages, I wonder: Why all this moronic concern about Sharia Law taking over? We’re doing so well to decimate our own best traditions of freedom, rights, and justice by ourselves, thank you.
