The shocking death of a 4-year-old girl — shot dead with a handgun inside a car outside her grandparent’s home — zeroed in on two issues Sunday:
How did the gun that apparently killed little Rahquel Carr get into the hands of a group of children? And who owned the weapon?
A 6-year-old was found holding the weapon after the shooting. Police would not confirm if he fired the fatal bullet. — Miami Hurled
Wow, readers, are you getting as weary of these tragedies as I am? The same theme, over and over again, followed by the same trade of accusations and recriminations When the dust settles (usually in time for the next similar incident), nothing has changed, and the dead don’t return to life.
Here’s how this goes.
First, somebody blames the gun. Except, that’s not exactly true. What really happens is, some gun fetishist says, You libtards who want to confiscate my guns always blame the weapons when you should be standing with us at the NRA for responsible gun ownership. But actually, nobody blames the gun. Nobody.
Second, somebody says, This is what happens when there’s just too many guns around in the hands of too many people who aren’t mature or responsible enough to have one. This sounds entirely reasonable to me, but again, the gunnies regard this as the first dance down the slippery slope to limiting their god-given 2nd Amendment right to own nuclear rocket launchers which they’d have to register with the socialist gubmint and that’s exactly what Hitler did to the wipe out the Indians or something.
But the real question — not that we’d expect the invertebrate Miami Hurled to pose it — is, How did any parent allow their 4-year old to sit in a car in front of her grandparents’ house in broad daylight — UNARMED? What were they thinking?
We know for a fact that guns in abundance make for a safer, more peaceful society, right? And we know that the only real answer to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, correct? And we know that the 2nd Amendment applies to all citizens, no matter how old or young.
So why would any parent not insist that his or her 4 year old carry a weapon to protect itself? If the poor child had been properly armed, maybe, just maybe, this tragic chain of events would have been nipped in the bud. Why won’t parents take full advantage of their second amendment rights? Americans died for those rights — and still do today !
So once again (he said wearily) we see how horribly, tragically wrong this turned out. Because of the stigma created by gun confiscating commies who hate Americans and our freedom to fire ammunition into the sky on school holidays, instead of two happy children playing nicely in a car together, safe, secure, and protected with loaded weapons at the ready, we have a family catastrophe. When will you learn, America? How many have to die? Arm Your Children! Join the Bullets for Binkies Campaign!
And on this holiest of Mondays, I believe it’s fair to say that this is what Jesus would want us to do. I mean, look what happened to unarmed him.
