So, what’s going on down there?
A Japanese artist on a mission to “demystify” female genitalia has been arrested under local obscenity laws for distributing a digitized model of her vagina for 3D printing. Megumi Igarashi – who works under the alias Rokudenashiko or ‘good-for-nothing kid’ – produced the 3D scan as part of a crowdfunded project to create a kayak modeled on her genitalia.
But why vaginas? Rokudenashiko’s art aims to breakdown taboos about female genitalia in Japan. Typically, female privates are discreetly referred to as “asoko” (“down there”), while the more descriptive “manko” (“pussy”) is seen as far more vulgar. — sportscene.tv
Leave aside for the moment the merits of this endeavor (artistic, political, etc.), about which you can learn more here. But why was she arrested?
Evidently she was arrested for breaking Japanese obscenity laws — she distributed 3D printer data of her cooch about 30 thirty people. That’s considered obscene, although the 42 year old artists takes issue with that. She views this snatch-shot as a southern selfie.
I guess she’ll have a chance to tell it to the judge, which will only generate even more international publicity, which after all is her immediate objective.. Meanwhile, happy sailing to the little gal in the boat!
