A Broward Sheriff’s deputy is accused of accepting oral sex in exchange for not arresting a woman in Dania Beach.
Ted Arboleda, 32, was arrested Monday following an investigation by Broward Sheriff’s Public Corruption Unit detectives. He is charged with unlawful compensation or reward for official behavior — a second-degree felony. —SunSentinel
Opinion is divided on the officer’s judgment. “He decided it’s better for everybody not to make an issue out of this,” explained PBA spokesman Elliot Swineflew. “The woman knew she’d made a mistake, expressed regret, and he made sure she got home safe without hurting herself or anybody else. It’s not like he just blew it off, pardon the expression.
“And she’s understandably grateful for getting a break. She offers him cash and he properly declines. So she uses her head and gives him a little token of appreciation, an innocent gesture of thanks. More people should be that nice to law enforcement — the world would get on a whole lot better.”
Investigations continue: “There’s a possibility that he’s done this before,” a BSO spokesman told the media.
