What Swill Be Will Be

11XP-BUD-superJumboBudweiser, a beer brand owned by a Belgian company, will soon appear on shelves with a new name: America.

Pointing to a spate of summer events set to bring out feelings of nationalism, Budweiser said Tuesday that it would replace the word “Budweiser” with “America” on its cans, bottles and packaging from May 23 through the general election in November.

It will be “probably the most American summer of our generation,” said Ricardo Marques, a vice president at Budweiser.  — NYTimes

Marques added that he thought these cans and bottles are destined to be collectors’ items. Asked who other than aluminum scavengers would collect beer cans, he replied, “Why, our ordinary Bud drinkers, of course! Our regulars swill!”

Pretty sure I heard that right……..

Will say this for Bud — selling the brand to a Belgian company didn’t change its flavor or texture even a little bit. Same as it ever was. Which is why I still wouldn’t drink it unless force-fed.

  2. Joe Balls says:

    Budweiser is Clydesdale pis.

  3. Ted Williams' Head says:

Why drink redneck Bud when you can get PBR for less $$? They both suck but with Pabst you can pretend to be cool. Inquiring (and detached) minds want to know.

  4. Kim Chee says:

I hate beer. Hate it! But I love Bud.
