Long tale short: a few months back I find this guy on the shelf and give it a spin. Verdict: wonderful. Crisp, tasty, refreshing, smooth. I go back for more and of course there isn’t any, and over the next few weeks I manage to land maybe half a dozen additional, sold individually (as opposed to a six pack). Then it vanishes entirely.
Yesterday, at Total Wine in Ft, Lauderdale, I meet a guy who says he works for the distributor, and that Wyld Organic Ale has been discontinued, replaced by a Pale Ale. He says there’s “practically no difference,” if anything, the Pale Ale is even better. And the Czech is in the male.
I will neither whine (nor wine) — this is beer, not rare life-saving blood plasma — but I do point out (not without some acerbity) that this sort of thing happens to me with what seems like uncommon frequency, across a wide range of products and services. Seems like I gravitate towards the unpopular. Feel free to un-friend me to preserve, if not enhance your social status.

I don’t know this beer or that brewery. Did you try the one the distributor said had replaced this one? It might be nothing more than a marketing move, essentially changing the packaging on the exact same product.
There’s nothing on the Uinta website to indicate the brand has been discontinued. As for being “replaced” by a pale ale, Uinta’s Cuthroat Pale Ale has been around for over 20 years, so it’s not “replacing” anything. I tried it years ago while out west, haven’t had it (or even seen it) since.
Like they say, beer today gone tomorrow.
