Race to the Bottom

re Michael Steal’s quote.  see (b), below.

AAAAAAAAhhhh!  Panic! Teacher can I go t’ the baffroom?

Relax.  It’s fun.  And only one question.  Ready?

Which of the following nauseates you more?

(1)  ‘Pub presidential nominee Mittney’s insincere, plasticine face twitching nervously following his bone-headed remarks to the NAACP, aimed not at his audience but rather toward the leering racist wingnuts on the right extreme of his party

(b)  Former RNC Chairman Michael Steal maintaining that ‘Pub-led efforts to pass laws that purge voting rolls and restrict access to voting have no racist basis or intent. [via]

Extra credit if you can write something that makes us laugh.

Meanwhile, I came across this, which fits the mood.

    Weak, squathole.

After years of describing the loathsome Bush as “Monkey Boy”, and this new representation of Mitt’s mug as “twitching & plasticine”, why is it that in four years, you’ve not been able to come up with an equally clever word-picture of the current President? Just asking.

Your take on the NAACP speech is completely in line with the analysis on MSNBC – if I didn’t know better, I’d think someone showed you how to work the remote!

    • Frank of Oregon says:

Oh I think Squatso had this one right. I don’t know from MSNBC or whatever its new name is, but I saw this take in a few places and it just makes sense. And then there’s this: http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/07/12/515297/romney-on-naacp-booers-theyre-freeloaders/. Sonofarichbitch is gloating about it..

      • A Delicate Flower says:

Do you hate everybody who is successful or just anyone with more money than you?

You must despise Bill Gates. Talk about a rich son of a bitch!

And, you must loath Warren Buffet. He should be murdered and all his wealth should be paid in reparations.

Steve Jobs…, talk about rich assholes. You otta go lay a log on his headstone.

        And, you HATE Romney because…?

Maybe if you spent less time hating and put that energy to meaningful work, you could become rich and then, we could hate you.

      • Frank of Oregon says:

Flower: I don’t know where you’re coming from with this pathetic diatribe and I won’t dignify it with a point by point response. Suffice it to say that by most standards I’m very successful both personally and financially, and I neither hate nor loath any of the individuals you mention. True, I dislike the candidate Romney because I am sure his approach to America’s problems will fail. Cutting taxes and reducing spending is exactly the wrong way to go, as we see in Europe.

Maybe your problem is that you don’t understand how progressives like myself are willing, even eager, to underwrite programs through our taxes and private giving that will benefit the American public, and strengthen our position int the world. Republicans and people like Romney don’t get this.Evidently you don’t either.

  2. rbhexem says:

The current President should be ashamed of himself. The servicemen, and women, of the US certainly are! His latest move, to honor the “whore of Hanoi,” is more than most of us US veterans can stand! “Hanoi rose” spread her legs for the enemy, North Vietnam, and is responsible for getting some of our men killed. If anyone else had done that, they would have been lined up against the wall and shot! But not her! Now the President wants to honor her for her great humanitarian works!!!
Was it the Fonda name? Or was it daddy’s money? It’s sick, that’s what it is!!!!!!

    • Merkin Way says:

Agreed: Jane Fonda is a cunt. She did more to harm the anti-war effort than a battalion of Congs. But what the hell are you talking about — “the president wants to honor her great humanitarian works?” I don’t know where you picked up that nugget but I suggest you wash your hands.

      • rbhexem says:

There is no way in hell to ever wash that much stink off! I see you have not yet read, “thank you Barbara Walters”.

    • Merkin Way says:

I guess you mean this: http://www.snopes.com/military/fonda.asp

Look, I was in Vietnam, too. Jane Fonda is garbage and you’re right about the stink, How the fuck does OBama figure in? Was he even alive?

      • rbhexem says:

No. I”m referring to; “thank you Barbara Walters” which is an update to what you are referring to. If you google “thank you Barbara Walters” you’ll see what I’m talking about,
and what has me boiling mad!!

  3. Squathole says:

@rbhexem: I can’t find what you’re referring to, either. Nothing I Google on links Fonda, Walters, and BHO. Got a link I can see? Thanks.

@YaGottaGuessIt: I’ve never even tried to find MSGLBT — I assume that has something to do with Answerman Kooper (whom I saw exactly once for about 6 minutes years ago, and specifically remember mentioning “Damn, that man is gay — why isn’t he doing the weather?) — but the line of thought about Mittney using the NAACP podium to wave his willie and bolster credentials to GOP cavedwellers was pretty well expressed by numerous print commentators. I didn’t come up with it myself, but It makes sense to me — BHO got 95% of the Black vote in 2008, and probably will get it again. Mittney can safely write it off. He has nothing to lose. This way he got some political advantage.

    • rbhexem says:

did you google “thank you Barbara Walters?”

    • ya gottat' says:

Indeed…how dare that white candidate go where he wasn’t welcome?
I’d guessed MSNBC, because they’re consistantly disingenuous, but I’d forgotten that you hunker down with the NYT, too.
Even your altogether skeptical outlook would’ve needed some sort of goose to get you to the “Romney’s addressing the 95% against-him Blacks to cater to the 5% lunatic fringe wingnuts”, but it’s disappointing that you swallowed the hook.
Frankly, I think he went so no one could ever that he hadn’t.
      Occam’s razor, and all.

      • rbhexem says:

I dislike all politicians equally. That’s a given! However, I am starting to dislike Romney much less than O’bama. Some of the stuff O’bama has been pulling these past few months is, actually, unbelievable for a man trying to get re-elected. This isn’t about politics; this is about good old stupidity!! O’bama needs new advisers. Hopefully, some who studied history. What a bunch of dorks!!!

      • Squathole says:

I just Googled “romney plays to right at naacp” and found similar musings to the one I suggested in this post on numerous commentators’ sites, including Time, CBS, Reason Magazine, etc. Whatever else you might think about this conjecture, it ain’t far-fetched.

I find it refreshing, actually. He showed up where he wasn’t popular and said a few things to rile up the audience, which I’m sure delighted his own people. That took some spine, something he’s not known for showing. Give the man credit for playing a card right, even if it was house money.

    • Get Real says:

Could someone here please post a short list of the crimes Romney has committed?
How much of his wealth was stolen and from whom? Who did Romney defraud and when? Got a list of para mores, whores or dalliances?
And, please be specific. None of the dogmatic platitudes and talking points about, “He stole from the poor!” bullshit.
I want a bill of particulars for a criminal indictment.

      • Piles says:

@Get Real: Before I would try to provide the list you seek, tell me: who has accused Gov. Romney of any crimes? What (or who) are you referring to? As far as I know, insincerity, flip-flopping, and refusing to release his tax forms are not criminal acts. Be specific. Name names.

      • Lois Terms says:

Is this campaign going to feature 4 more months of Republican whining like this? I need to get away.

  4. E.O. Hippus says:

Squats: You really, truly, honestly don’t know anything at all about TV, do you. It’s like you skipped 50 entire years of technology and cultural revolution, for better or worse. And yet you blog. Amazing.

  5. rbhexem says:

I found “thank you Barbara Walters” on “po11ycheck.”

    • Squathole says:

I saw that entry — there’s one sentence that says “and now BHO wants to honor her…” but I can’t find anything else that confirms that, let alone any other news linking him to Hanoi Jane. And seriously, while he’s made some real bad political moves, I don’t think his handlers would let that howler slip through.

  6. 60s Radical says:

Only people who show their EBT Card(s) should be allowed to vote!

  7. 60s Radical says:

Mitt Romney is a Clan Leader – PMS-NBC Broken Newz
    Who Do You Support?
Wolfboro NH – It was discovered today that Mitt Romney is a member of The Clan. Not only is he a member but, he is the actual leader of The Clan. The Obama Campaign revealed Romney’s Clan affiliation after they learned of a major Clan gathering this weekend at one of the Clan’s palatial regional headquarters in this small New Hampshire village
An Obama spokesperson who spoke on a guarantee of anonymity said, “These people have gathered at one of their lairs to plot their hateful, racist, evil campaign to take over rule of the planet. The Romney Clan is a Bane on our existence!”

Many of the Romney Clan members were present at the gathering and all have taken the last name of Romney as proof of their belief in their leader. It seems Mitt Romney has been living with a woman since 1969 and even she has taken the Romney name. A list of some of the Romney Clans lieutenants includes: Tagg; Matt; Josh; Ben and; Craig. All the names are suspected to be false and are probably code names with sinister meanings.

More information on this Clan and it’s activities will be released as it is uncovered on PMS-NBC, Chris Mathews show and similar respected, legitimate news outlets.

    • Barbara Ganousch says:

This is pretty funny and it sure highlights their other-ness. I bet I’m not the only white person who finds the Romneys much more alien than the Obamas.

  8. Dawgbowl says:

I notice that white people generally, and Repulsicans in particular, really don’t like to think of themselves as racists even when they’re saying racist things, telling racist jokes, and supporting racist activities. I don’t accuse Romney of being racist — I don’t know what he thinks or feels — but the policies he advances on immigration, the role of government, women’s rights, and even his financial approach all severely and negatively impact the welfare of low-income citizens (and non-citizens), who are disproportionately minorities. The Rs don’t get this..

They are also the first ones to complain about ‘playing the race card’ and insist race no longer matters which is so laughable it’s tragic.

    • Toilet Bowl says:

That’s just hateful and racist thinking!
We must welcome the diversity of different ideas!
If you tolerate intolerance then you are intolerable!

    • Piles says:

Thanks for the update. I was surprised nobody picked up on the former RNC’s straight-faced lie, but maybe we’ve become used to hearing that sort of garbage. It’s almost routine these days.

Somebody needs to flush toilet bowl — the shit in there is old and odiferous.
